Sometimes I just have to laugh about how people (including myself) approach the acne problem. Basically, the general approach is to look for some sort of magic solution that will solve the problem. We want a pill or a cream or a home remedy that will solve our acne woes without having to make any sort of lifestyle change. It’s comical really.

Here’s your magic bullet if you want to control your acne problem: Change Your Bad HABITS!!

This site has some of the best home remedies for acne that will ever be found anywhere, but you will only receive minimal gains from them unless you change those habits that lead to acne formation within your life. Yes, it’s true that some natural remedies for acne work better than others depending on the type of acne and your skin type. You might have to experiment with a couple different acne home remedies before you find one that works for you. However, you will never know which one works until you do all the other things right.

So what are these bad habits that you need to drop?

Well, I can’t tell you all of the bad habits out there, but I can tell you a few new habits that you probably need to develop: (1) Eat healthy, (2) exercise regularly, (3) don’t sleep on your face, (4) get enough sleep, (5) wash your hands regularly, (6) manage your stress, and (7) use your home remedy for acne on a consistent basis.

I honestly can’t say enough about eating healthy foods, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. There is a show in the United States called the Biggest Loser. The contestants on this show are extremely overweight. They get taken to a secluded place where they are forced to exercise regularly, eat healthy, and get enough sleep. Guess what happens? They lose tons of weight. Guess what else happens (even though the show is not about this)? Their skin starts looking a hundred times better. Their skin, especially the skin on their face, goes from looking very sickly to looking fresh and vibrant. Even if you don’t need to drop some weight, doing these simple things will help get your skin healthier (thus helping your acne problem). Exercising regularly might be one of the best natural remedies for acne available.

Sleeping on your face can cause some serious acne problems. This is a habit that most people who suffer from acne don’t think about. If you usually sleep on your stomach, try sleeping on your side, or on your back. In any situation wash your pillow case frequently.

Once you are doing all these small things that attribute to good health, then you can start worrying about which of the many home remedies for acne you should be using. If you are trying home remedies (or any acne treatment for that matter) and you aren’t practicing the other good habits listed above then you will have no idea if the treatment or remedy is working or not. The remedy might be doing its part, but it could be all that bad food you ate that is the problem. One of the most common pieces of advice that is heard about treating acne is “don’t touch your pimples.” This is the most basic home remedy for acne that there is. Well, I’m about to tell you that I don’t believe in the no touching your face policy.

First off, the people who give this advice are usually the people who don’t actually suffer from acne. They just see people who do suffer from acne touching their face and so they somehow draw some random conclusion that touching your face must lead to acne. That is not how the scientific method works my friend.

Secondly, what about those people who have huge whiteheads that are just dying to burst open everywhere? You’re telling me that these people just need to ignore those giants and head out into public? I don’t buy it. I’ve tried this myself and I’ve seen other people do it. What happens when all of a sudden the huge whitehead breaks? This isn’t good for self-esteem or morale. Plus it’s just unsightly to see people’s faces oozing white pus everywhere.

For these two reasons I’m a huge believer in touching your face and cleaning out your zits (you can call it popping them if you want). Now, the key is to have control. You shouldn’t be touching your face all day long, but it might not be a bad idea to have a set time in the morning or in the evening where you clean out some of those whiteheads. If you have a scheduled time like this then you can clean your hands, pop the zits, and then apply some sort of home remedy for acne to the infected area. After the cleaning session, avoid touching your pimples until the next designated time.

Even with set pimple cleaning times, there may still be times during the day where it is appropriate to touch your face. For example, maybe a large whitehead develops during the day (in my opinion a quick trip to the bathroom to clean it off, is much better than just letting it sit there looking extremely weird in public).

He started off telling me that people should avoid foods high in fat (no surprise there). However, he then started listing some types of meat that we should eat and some that we should not eat as frequently. I thought it was important that he didn’t say not to eat these meats at all, but to limit our intake of them.

The Omega 6 meats and foods (beef, chicken, pork, peanut butter, and nuts) are the meats that we should try to limit ourselves on. He didn’t say to avoid meats altogether—that would be nearly impossible for me (yes it’s something I need to work on)—he said that we should try to eat more of the Omega -3 meats and foods such as fish, walnuts, and avocados. I thought this was interesting because where I live most people eat a lot more chicken and beef than they do fish. How avoiding bad meat as one of the more popular natural remedies for acne?

What I find funny about most home remedies for acne is that they usually consist of common sense. The health profession has been telling us for years that we should reduce the amount of meat that we are ingesting and that we should turn to more healthy meats like fish.

I’m still thoroughly convinced that the best way to manage acne is to do all of the little things right and then combine that with a good home remedy for acne (or natural remedy for acne) that works for you. If you are regularly exercising, eating healthy, sleeping well, and applying acne home remedies then I’m convinced that your acne condition will improve. Yes I believe that there are advanced medicines out there that might help you get rid of your acne without having to live a healthy lifestyle. But do you really want that? Wouldn’t it be better to be healthy and not have acne? Just some Food for thought (literally).

Acne has to be one of the most wide-spread diseases ever. It is no respecter of gender, race, or even age. Nobody knows the exact cause of acne (probably because the cause is different in every individual). Most people believe that acne is caused by sebaceous glands that produce an oily substance called sebum. Bacteria and dirt get caught in the

Eat Healthy

Although there is no conclusive evidence that diet causes acne, most experts believe that it does. For example many believe that the hormones in milk may cause acne. However, avoiding milk would be a bad idea (the key is moderation and balance). In general try to avoid as much as possible fatty foods. This article isn’t going to go into specific; just eat healthy and follow the food pyramid. You will feel better and it should help your acne.

Change Your Pillow Case Frequently

You would be surprised how many acne sufferers don’t think of this. Some people don’t change their pillow case very often. This means that over time a lot of dirt, bacteria, and oil can accumulate on your pillow case—this is not good for your acne. Try cleaning and changing your pillow case once or twice a week. You might be surprised at the difference this can make.

Stop Touching Your Pimples

I’m not going to tell you to completely stop touching your zits (to do so would be absurd in my opinion). However, you do need to limit the amount of touching drastically. Set apart a time or two each day where you can have free reign on your pimples. Pop any blatant whiteheads so you don’t look really odd in public. I always laugh at these programs that tell you to completely stop touching your pimples. I remember I did that for a day and it was one of the worst. When I got to school I had a couple huge (we’re talking ginormous) whiteheads that were just about oozing out over my face. This is not good hygiene in my opinion. Clean out your whiteheads before you head out into public. However, once you have cleaned them out, then there is a no touching policy until your next designated cleaning time.

Sleep on Your Back (if possible)

I for one have had a lot of trouble sleeping on my back. I usually sleep on my stomach and this means that my face is smashed against my pillow all night (that’s why I recommend changing your pillow case frequently). If possible, then try sleeping on your back or on your side. Some position where your face isn’t touching the pillow case (you might be surprised at how well this works).

Exercise

There are books and books about the benefits of exercising regularly. I don’t even want to get into them here. Needless to say, if you exercise regularly then this will help your acne situation.

Apply Your Treatment Twice a Day

I saved this part for last on purpose. I honestly don’t think the type of acne medicine or natural remedy you are using matters as much as most people think. Some people think they need to find that magic bullet to solve their acne problem. This simply isn’t true. You can use home remedies for acne to solve the problem or you can use some really powerful prescription drug; the key is implementing the remedy and all of the aforementioned steps on a regular basis. If you are doing everything else wrong, but you have the best acne medicine in the world, you are probably still going to have acne. The key is to put all the pieces together.

I think we can all agree that acne is one of the most common reasons for teenage angst, if not depression. People who were born blessed with practically no pores – people who appear to be genetically engineered not to grow a single

pimple in their bodies – may laugh at us wondering what the big deal is. You and I, however, both know what people with acne have to go through every day.

There is bullying: anyone who has ever stepped foot in an American public school knows that many school systems are ran by a social hierarchy and acne-plagued teenagers are usually at the bottom of the social food chain.
