Sometimes I just have to laugh about how people (including myself) approach the acne problem. Basically, the general approach is to look for some sort of magic solution that will solve the problem. We want a pill or a cream or a home remedy that will solve our acne woes without having to make any sort of lifestyle change. It’s comical really.

Here’s your magic bullet if you want to control your acne problem: Change Your Bad HABITS!!

This site has some of the best home remedies for acne that will ever be found anywhere, but you will only receive minimal gains from them unless you change those habits that lead to acne formation within your life. Yes, it’s true that some natural remedies for acne work better than others depending on the type of acne and your skin type. You might have to experiment with a couple different acne home remedies before you find one that works for you. However, you will never know which one works until you do all the other things right.

So what are these bad habits that you need to drop?

Well, I can’t tell you all of the bad habits out there, but I can tell you a few new habits that you probably need to develop: (1) Eat healthy, (2) exercise regularly, (3) don’t sleep on your face, (4) get enough sleep, (5) wash your hands regularly, (6) manage your stress, and (7) use your home remedy for acne on a consistent basis.

Home remedies for acne

Washing your hands regularly helps.

I honestly can’t say enough about eating healthy foods, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. There is a show in the United States called the Biggest Loser. The contestants on this show are extremely overweight. They get taken to a secluded place where they are forced to exercise regularly, eat healthy, and get enough sleep. Guess what happens? They lose tons of weight. Guess what else happens (even though the show is not about this)? Their skin starts looking a hundred times better. Their skin, especially the skin on their face, goes from looking very sickly to looking fresh and vibrant. Even if you don’t need to drop some weight, doing these simple things will help get your skin healthier (thus helping your acne problem). Exercising regularly might be one of the best natural remedies for acne available.

Sleeping on your face can cause some serious acne problems. This is a habit that most people who suffer from acne don’t think about. If you usually sleep on your stomach, try sleeping on your side, or on your back. In any situation wash your pillow case frequently.

Once you are doing all these small things that attribute to good health, then you can start worrying about which of the many home remedies for acne you should be using. If you are trying home remedies (or any acne treatment for that matter) and you aren’t practicing the other good habits listed above then you will have no idea if the treatment or remedy is working or not. The remedy might be doing its part, but it could be all that bad food you ate that is the problem. Or it could be that you never exercise, or that you are touching your face with dirty hands all day.

Once you have some good habits formed, then start applying home remedies for acne on a consistent basis. Consistency is the key. With good habits and good remedies, your acne shouldn’t be a problem for long.

Suffering from acne, especially if you are a teenager, can kill your social life, not to mention your self-esteem. I know a lot of people who have massive issues that stem from one thing – acne. Yes sure, that may sound petty and literally

skin-deep but if you were in their shoes you would learn that I am not exaggerating. Your face should be a reflection of who you are as a person, but more often than not it becomes the other way around. Luckily though there are home remedies for acne that really work.

One of these home remedies for acne is oatmeal. This tasty breakfast is not only good for your heart, it is actually great for your skin too; and there are plenty of good reviews to back up the idea of oatmeal to treat your acne. Prepare the oatmeal like you would normally do minus the sugar, and let it cool. Once it is lukewarm, apply it on your face like a mask and leave it on for about thirty minutes. Then rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. Oatmeal is said to absorb excess oil from your skin making you less prone to acne.

A recent addition to the list of home remedies for acne includes the use of an anti-dandruff shampoo. Odd isn’t it? It actually makes sense as the strain of bacterium that causes dandruff is identical to the bacteria that can cause acne. All you have to do is to apply anti-dandruff shampoo before going to the shower and rinse it off after a minute; it is that easy. Make sure to do this once a day only as they can extremely cause dry skin.

Among the many home remedies for acne, one thing alone is important – how you use them. I can give you some tips that will help you get the most out of whatever medication you use. First, make sure to test it on a small portion of your skin first so you’ll know if you have any allergic reaction to your home remedy. Second, be consistent and stick to one home remedy at a time. You may have tested each concoction against your skin but there is no telling how they react against each other. Lastly, pamper your entire body. Most people get so caught up with their face they forget that it is actually attached to a body.

You can easily find home remedies for acne that really work. Just make sure that you follow the tips I gave you to avoid exacerbating your current situation. Acne is something that you do not have to live with your entire life so start doing something about it before it’s too late.

There are literally thousands of remedies for acne. The reason for the sheer quantity of remedies is due to the fact that there isn’t one remedy that will work for everyone. This is probably because we are all different and the acne on your face is unique when compared to the acne on your friends face. We all want to be unique right? Anyways, below

are three home remedies for acne to add to your arsenal. Keep in mind that healthy living along with a good remedy can make a drastic change for the better in your acne.

Intake foods that have some zinc in them. According to a friend of mine in the health profession, zinc is great for managing acne. He explained to me that zinc helps keep our sebaceous glands under control and it also helps keep bacterial counts low. For those of you who haven’t heard about sebaceous glands you’ll probably want to know that many people attribute acne formation to the excess amount of sebum oil produced by the sebaceous glands. If zinc could help manage this problem, then surely it would help with pimples.

Eat foods that are high in sulfur like garlic and onions. Sometimes I have to laugh when people ridicule home remedies for acne saying that they are not powerful enough. The truth is that many of the most popular over-the-counter acne treatments available have sulfur in them. Don’t believe me? Take a quick trip to the supermarket and look at ingredients of some of the acne treatments. I’m betting that you’ll see some sulfur on there. That’s why they all smell a little off.

Monitor the amount of milk you are drinking. There is no conclusive evidence that milk causes acne, but there is some evidence and there is some good logic behind it. Those who believe that milk causes acne claim that the hormones within the milk are the culprits. Cows are often injected with extra hormones so that they will produce milk, and plenty of it. It’s probably a bad idea to completely take milk out of your diet. You need the calcium; however, it might not be a bad idea to see if your drinking a lot of milk or if you could find some additional calcium sources to supplement your milk drinking.

Live a healthy life and use acne home remedies to get rid of those pesky little pimples. Good luck!

One of the most common pieces of advice that is heard about treating acne is “don’t touch your pimples.” This is the most basic home remedy for acne that there is. Unlike other natural remedies for acne you don’t have to mix anything together or gather any herbs; you just have to stop touching your face. Well, I’m about to tell you that I don’t believe in the no touching your face policy.

First off, the people who give this advice are usually the people who don’t actually suffer from acne. They just see people who do suffer from acne touching their face and so they somehow draw some random conclusion that touching your face must lead to acne. That is not how the scientific method works my friend.

Secondly, what about those people who have huge whiteheads that are just dying to burst open everywhere? You’re telling me that these people just need to ignore those giants and head out into public? I don’t buy it. I’ve tried this myself and I’ve seen other people do it. What happens when all of a sudden the huge whitehead breaks? This isn’t good for self-esteem or morale. Plus it’s just unsightly to see people’s faces oozing white pus everywhere.

For these two reasons I’m a huge believer in touching your face and cleaning out your zits (you can call it popping them if you want). Now, the key is to have control. You shouldn’t be touching your face all day long, but it might not be a bad idea to have a set time in the morning or in the evening where you clean out some of those whiteheads. If you have a scheduled time like this then you can clean your hands, pop the zits, and then apply some sort of home remedy for acne to the infected area. After the cleaning session, avoid touching your pimples until the next designated time.

Even with set pimple cleaning times, there may still be times during the day where it is appropriate to touch your face. For example, maybe a large whitehead develops during the day (in my opinion a quick trip to the bathroom to clean it off, is much better than just letting it sit there looking extremely weird in public).

On my home remedies for acne blog I get a lot of opinions about how acne should be treated. I for one think that touching your face is okay (even desirable) as long as you aren’t doing it all day long.

So a friend of mine who is in the health profession sent me an interesting article about some foods that might cause acne. This isn’t necessarily a home remedy that you can apply, but it might be a step that you can take that will help with your acne problems.

He started off telling me that people should avoid foods high in fat (no surprise there). However, he then started listing some types of meat that we should eat and some that we should not eat as frequently. I thought it was important that he didn’t say not to eat these meats at all, but to limit our intake of them.

The Omega 6 meats and foods (beef, chicken, pork, peanut butter, and nuts) are the meats that we should try to limit ourselves on. He didn’t say to avoid meats altogether—that would be nearly impossible for me (yes it’s something I need to work on)—he said that we should try to eat more of the Omega -3 meats and foods such as fish, walnuts, and avocados. I thought this was interesting because where I live most people eat a lot more chicken and beef than they do fish. How avoiding bad meat as one of the more popular natural remedies for acne?

What I find funny about most home remedies for acne is that they usually consist of common sense. The health profession has been telling us for years that we should reduce the amount of meat that we are ingesting and that we should turn to more healthy meats like fish.

I’m still thoroughly convinced that the best way to manage acne is to do all of the little things right and then combine that with a good home remedy for acne (or natural remedy for acne) that works for you. If you are regularly exercising, eating healthy, sleeping well, and applying acne home remedies then I’m convinced that your acne condition will improve. Yes I believe that there are advanced medicines out there that might help you get rid of your acne without having to live a healthy lifestyle. But do you really want that? Wouldn’t it be better to be healthy and not have acne? Just some Food for thought (literally).

Acne has to be one of the most wide-spread diseases ever. It is no respecter of gender, race, or even age. Nobody knows the exact cause of acne (probably because the cause is different in every individual). Most people believe that acne is caused by sebaceous glands that produce an oily substance called sebum. Bacteria and dirt get caught in the

sebum within our skin and swelling/irritation occurs. There are innumerable treatments for acne. From over-the-counter drugs to home remedies for acne or natural remedies for acne; they all may or may not work depending on your type of acne and your skin.

To cleanse your acne I recommend the following:

  • Eat Healthy
  • Change Your Pillow Case
  • Stop Touching your Face
  • Sleep on Your Back
  • Treatment Twice a Day (Natural Remedies for Acne)
  • Exercise

Eat Healthy

Although there is no conclusive evidence that diet causes acne, most experts believe that it does. For example many believe that the hormones in milk may cause acne. However, avoiding milk would be a bad idea (the key is moderation and balance). In general try to avoid as much as possible fatty foods. This article isn’t going to go into specific; just eat healthy and follow the food pyramid. You will feel better and it should help your acne.

Change Your Pillow Case Frequently

You would be surprised how many acne sufferers don’t think of this. Some people don’t change their pillow case very often. This means that over time a lot of dirt, bacteria, and oil can accumulate on your pillow case—this is not good for your acne. Try cleaning and changing your pillow case once or twice a week. You might be surprised at the difference this can make.

Stop Touching Your Pimples

I’m not going to tell you to completely stop touching your zits (to do so would be absurd in my opinion). However, you do need to limit the amount of touching drastically. Set apart a time or two each day where you can have free reign on your pimples. Pop any blatant whiteheads so you don’t look really odd in public. I always laugh at these programs that tell you to completely stop touching your pimples. I remember I did that for a day and it was one of the worst. When I got to school I had a couple huge (we’re talking ginormous) whiteheads that were just about oozing out over my face. This is not good hygiene in my opinion. Clean out your whiteheads before you head out into public. However, once you have cleaned them out, then there is a no touching policy until your next designated cleaning time.

Sleep on Your Back (if possible)

I for one have had a lot of trouble sleeping on my back. I usually sleep on my stomach and this means that my face is smashed against my pillow all night (that’s why I recommend changing your pillow case frequently). If possible, then try sleeping on your back or on your side. Some position where your face isn’t touching the pillow case (you might be surprised at how well this works).

Exercise

There are books and books about the benefits of exercising regularly. I don’t even want to get into them here. Needless to say, if you exercise regularly then this will help your acne situation.

Apply Your Treatment Twice a Day

I saved this part for last on purpose. I honestly don’t think the type of acne medicine or natural remedy you are using matters as much as most people think. Some people think they need to find that magic bullet to solve their acne problem. This simply isn’t true. You can use home remedies for acne to solve the problem or you can use some really powerful prescription drug; the key is implementing the remedy and all of the aforementioned steps on a regular basis. If you are doing everything else wrong, but you have the best acne medicine in the world, you are probably still going to have acne. The key is to put all the pieces together.

Do not use this recipe if you are allergic to cinnamon.

In the fight against acne, honey provides us with tons of beneficial effects. Mixing it with other ingredients that fight off acne will certainly give you more chances of getting rid of acne. These simple and effective home remedies for acne will help you in the fight against acne as well as save you tons of money.

Acne has been one of the most common problems people have in their lives. It is normally caused by bacterial infection or that of an obstruction. Acne is normally an inflammatory response of the body to fight off an infection in a follicle. To fight off acne, you have to know the external and internal causes of it.

There is certain bacterium that normally lives on our skin that causes acne once it finds its way into the body. This bacterium is called Propiobacterium acnes, it is normally harmless but it is an opportunistic bacterium that will cause you acne. Just as with any infection, the body will start the immune response causing heat, pain, redness and swelling in the area affected. This is why acnes tend to be so reddish and painful. It is quite embarrassing to have a lot of these and they often leave us scars that will take a long time to vanish. Home remedies for acne in fighting an infection is by using citrus fruits and milk. The acidity in the fruits plus the effects of milk help fight off infection and reduces scar formation.

The body also contributes to the development of acne. An imbalance of hormones will create changes throughout the body. These hormonal changes will affect the sebum production in the sebaceous glands that are found in our skin. The more sebum produced, the more likely it will get clog in the follicle. It is normally released slowly to be excreted efficiently. Another cause of hormonal imbalance is high blood glucose. You may be eating quite a lot of sweets to the point that it has caused an imbalance that produced an outburst of acne.

To deal with the internal causes, you can start by having a healthy balanced diet. Eat the right amount of sweets will help prevent acne. Reducing milk consumption will also help prevent acne formation. The hormones in cow’s milk can affect the human body in such a way that it sometimes contributes to acne formation. There have been several studies made regarding this matter has proven the milk consumption seems to have an effect in the proliferation of acne.

There are several home remedies for acne that provide normal mechanisms that fight off the bacterial infection. Fresh garlic has a natural antibiotic in its juice, this will help fight off the bacteria and reduce scar formation. Honey has also been proven to have antibiotic properties that assists in fighting off infection and aids in wound recovery.

Fighting off acne is easy and cheap with the use of home remedies. They may take a little bit of time than commercial products but they work!

It is likely we wouldn’t have the acne medicine we have today if people had not discovered natural remedies for acne many centuries ago. A lot of modern medicines today to treat acne came from natural herbs and bacteria that are found all over the world. Before western medicines were invented it was the herbalist’s job to create herbal medicines to treat various diseases, and one of those is acne. Before, in times long past, people went to the house of the herbalist to ask for medicines to treat different diseases. Times have definitely changed as the world has moved away from using Mother Earth’s natural cures in exchange for modern medicine.

In older times people attempted to resolve their problems of acne by bathing, washing, or rubbing herbal extracts and leaves into their body. Even though there are a lot of herbs, fruits, or sometimes animal extract that people used to treat acne, there is one type of herbal medicine that caught my attention, tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is an interesting natural remedy for acne because this plant has an enzyme named terpinen-4-ol . This enzyme has anti-bacterial properties which can kill a wide range of pathogens. Getting rid of pathogens is a proven way to help fight acne.

This oil is very flexible when it comes to curing a wide range of bacteria related acne diseases. There are several different types of acne, and this oil can help cure many of them. It is interesting to note that this oil is sometimes used to cure upper respiratory tract infections. The fact that this oil helps cure bacterial infections shows that it is capable of killing a wide range of bacteria. Even though it’s a natural remedy making it at home is almost impossible because making this oil requires a long process and an expensive gadget. This just illustrates that not all natural remedies are necessarily home remedies. In order to be considered a home remedy for acne, making the remedy should be simple (in should only consist of pounding, boiling, or steaming).

Still Interested in the Tea Tree Oil Remedy?

To make this tree oil remedy work is not difficult after you have purchased the oil. You simply take a cotton ball and apply the oil on the face where there is acne and leave it there until it dries. Do this religiously to acquire the effects that you desire. Because this is a natural remedy, it will definitely take time to see the results. It is important to remember that natural remedies take time because they are natural. Overnight cures are not natural, because the body takes time to adjust.

We realize that the treatment expressed today wasn’t necessarily one of our normal home remedies for acne, but we thought that our readers might find it interesting. If you are looking for strictly home remedies, feel free to read some of our other articles.

The using of plants as remedies can be dated back from the 5000 B.C by the Sumerians and 2700 B.C by the Chinese and 1000 B.C by the Egyptians. There are also other races that have been recognized and discovered to use herbal medicine in the middle ages. Herbal medicine offers a wide range of cures for such illness and it is less harmful compared to chemically generated medicines. The use of herbal medicines increases when some countries approve or certify some herbal medicines as safe and effective to use. One example of this can be found in the Philippines where doctors believe that bitter gourd can prevent and improve the condition of a patient suffering from Non-insulin dependent Diabetes Mellitus.

There are many herbs that can cure acne, and each of these herbal home remedies for acne has its special preparation which will be briefly described later. Some of these remedies can be found at the super market or at your own backyard if you plant at least one of them, since some of these remedies can be planted and eaten. But the disadvantage of using this alternative medicine in treating acne is you cannot assure that by but simply using it for a short time will yield the desired result, since most of these type of medicines needs to be maintained and used every day for a long time to get the desired result.

Herbal Acne Home Remedies

The first in line for our herbal home remedies for acne is Peppermint (M. balsamea) this plant has menthol in it which is beneficial to people who are having a hard time eradicating there acne. To prepare you need a handful of peppermint leaves, after which is you wash them to remove the dust or soil that is on the leaves then you crush the leaves with the use of a mortar and pestle or if you don’t have a mortar and pestle, just simply improvise. After crushing the leaves apply the leaves to the area affected with acne, continue rubbing the leaves until you feel pain alleviation in the site, and also remember to do this on daily basis to get the desired result.

The next one is Oatmeal—any brand will do. Oatmeal mixed with honey exfoliates the skin therefore preventing the formation of acne in the skin since it absorbs the excess oil on the skin leaving the skin with minimal oil that can’t block the pores. To use this kind of alternative remedy first you need to have a honey, any brand will do as long that it’s pure honey. But first remember to cook the oatmeal in a way that it’s edible, after cooking the oatmeal, you mix the honey and oatmeal in one container then let it cool for a couple of minutes so that your face won’t be burn. After you cool the oatmeal with honey you apply it to your body, especially to those places where acne formation is more prone to develop. Then after a while you rinse it immediately with water so that you won’t have a hard time removing it. Do this process until your mixture is empty and of course you should do this religiously.

Last but not the least is Nettle (Urtica dioica) this plant prevent the formation of acne in any parts of the body. Unlike Peppermint and Oatmeal that is being applied topically Nettle leaves extract must be drank. To prepare you first need a handful of nettle leaves, use gloves if necessary, and boiling water. You need to clean the leaves to remove soil, dust, and other insects that are on the leaves. Then fill a teapot with nettle leaves then soak the leaves with boiling water, then wait for five minutes for the leave extract to mix with the water. After which you can now drink it. It is up to you if you put honey or lemon in the nettle tea to improve its taste and smell.

To conclude using home remedies to treat acne comes with its own set of risks. But compared to chemically generated medicines that are being sold in the market the risk is minimal. As always if you experience an adverse reaction upon taking these herbal medicines you should stop and seek out a doctor.
