In today’s time, diseases tend to get quite common as time flows by. Acne is one of the most common skin diseases that we can get. It appears in areas of the skin where there are a numerous amounts of sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum, an oily substance that we normally find on our faces every day. Once the sebum is released, it passes through little pores called follicles. But when there is a problem with the sebum, we get acne.

Once a person notices that he has acne, normally he would just either pop it or apply some expensive product on the pimple. These remedies can be effective but the amount of money you lose is quite big in the long run. A less expensive home remedy for acne is simply eating healthy. One of the main reasons why people get acne is because of hormonal and nutrient imbalance in the body. A good example is milk intake. Cows have hormones that trigger milk production and excretion. Avoid foods that are high in fat is a good choice. Not only does it help prevent heart problems, it also help keeps facial oiliness at a controllable rate. Balancing our intake of fatty food sources will help prevent acne formation. Limit intake of foods that are high in omega-6 like regular meat such as pork, beef and chicken, nuts and peanut butter. And eat more of foods rich in omega-3 such as fish, avocados and walnuts, the balance will help keep the body healthy and less prone to diseases and one of them is acne.

The addition of sulfur rich foods like garlic and onions can help improve skin conditions. Sulfur has been highly known for its anti-acne properties and has been used since ancient times. Adding in more garlic and eating raw onions can add up to higher sulfur food content and helps avoid acne outbursts.

Zinc is also known to be great at controlling acne. It helps keep the skin in good condition, keeps bacterial counts low and maintains the sebaceous glands at good working order. Try putting foods rich in zinc such as seashells, potatoes, eggplant, liver and eggs into your daily meals.

Never forget to eat three times a day to keep your body in top shape. Keep in mind that having a well-balanced diet is not just some fancy idea, it keeps the body in optimum condition and disease free. Eating healthy may be the best of the home remedies for acne.
